Microwave nachos...

-Spread tortilla chips onto a micro safe plate

-Spoon desired amount of tomato sauce onto chips

(too much will make chips soggy)

-Sprinkle shredded cheese on top

(I prefer sharp cheddar, but use what you like)

-Zap it!! 10-20 seconds Depending on microwave strength blah, blah...

To kick it up a notch, add veggies...I like topping with black olives and shredded lettuce after I heat up the nachos:)Qick snack recipes a 13 year old can make?
coolio, sounds like some good snacks and stuff on here. im going to try it out! Report Abuse

Peanut butter and jelly or spagetti with garlic powder and dash of margarine with a pinch of salt.
Well, for school you could bring yogourt (without gelatin), peanutbutter on crackers, trail mix, dry cereal, crackers, granola bars, soy crisps, any fruits or veggies with dip, even chocolate covered peanuts are good every now and then - protein, and the fats will keep you from feeling hungry.

At home you could make little bread pizzas made with a slice of whole wheat bread and a spoonful of pizza sauce and some soy cheese on top. Just put in a broiler for a couple minutes, or in the oven at a high temperature (400-450).

Also, toasted pita bread cut/torn up and dipped into hummus is pretty good and has lots of protein - you can buy hummus pre-made. Crackers and raw veggies are also good with it.
If you're a vegetarian, then you don't need to cook your food. How about lettuce and walnut, or spinach and walnut (watch out if you use spinach) sandwiches in whole wheat bread?
Kraft Easy Mac....microwavable mac and cheese...great after school snack for kids to make on their own
Cut up some apple and dip the slices in peanut butter
